New Voices
A ballot line built by the people of the Niagara County’s 8th District, not a party committee.
This November, you'll see Matt Kennedy's name twice on the ballot: once under Democrat, and again under New Voices.
What is New Voices?
New Voices is an independent ballot line, separate from any political party. To get a candidate on it, you need registered voters to sign a petition supporting that candidacy, no party affiliation required.
This spring, Matt's campaign collected those signatures door to door across Niagara County’s 8th District. The result: a line backed by Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike, all putting their name down for the same reason.
Why it exists
New Voices isn't a line handed down by a committee; it's proof of something Matt has said since day one: Our district doesn't want a legislator who only shows up for their own party or only shows up around election time. Neighbors across the political spectrum signed this petition because they agree on that, even if they don't agree on much else.
How it works on your ballot
A vote for Matt counts exactly the same whether you cast it on his party line or on New Voices. Two lines, one candidate, one commitment to the district.
Why it matters
Every signature on this petition came from a registered voter in the 8th District who decided this race is bigger than party lines. That's the whole idea behind New Voices: a legislator who works for the whole district, not just the voters who share his party affiliation.
